Bit of a lower effort thread here but I was doing some archive scavenging and found this really cool and also quite massive collection of emoticons. There are soooo many that it's honestly a bit hard to look through, but if you find some you want added to the site in particular feel free to post them! Lots of older memes and the like in here, it's great.

Remember DeviantArt.com? Okay, that garbage site is probably best forgotten by now. But it used to be so much fun, even just hanging out in the forums, and messing around in the comment sections.

PLZ icons were the wild west of emoticons. Long before the site bothered to implement an official and easy emoticon system, people had to make a workaround.
You had to register whole accounts just to put some flashy avatar icon on them. Then the icons could be summoned wherever you wanted by typing :iconwhatever:
People started calling those dummy profiles PLZ accounts to differentiate them from real users. Many of them are part of a combo, so a larger image or funny combinations could be made with them. The old timey user avatars of DA had to conform to a 50x50 pixel and max. 15KB size limit. Some are double-width group avatars. (Recetly DA started to upscale some icons to 100x100, it's very inconsistent.)
These accounts/icons were not easy to keep track of. Some people made websites/browser extensions/apps to make a searchable database of PLZ accounts, but those were always lacking.

I have collected a bunch of them for old times' sake. None of these are my creations, so be careful if you want to use them somewhere.
