WARNING: the Favored Heroine/Route tables contain an implied spoiler for Chaos;Child. Beware.
I received ~100ish responses, though there are more that got lost due to other people than me being QTd. I finally sat down and compiled all of the data into tables, and am here to present my findings. Some caveats, of course:
This is just for fun. We can't draw many, if any, conclusions from this information. For one, there's no control on how many entries a responding user played. I doubt many of them have actually played Anonymous;Code, for example. Occultic;Nine received one individual vote across all categories.
If I were to ask everyone who had consumed at least one piece of SciAdv media, steins;gate would crush all categories. Many thought it still would in this instance, but that's actually not true, as you'll see.
There are also some things I'd do differently. The main thing is I would specify ONE choice per category. I had many people give 2, and some as many as 4. Anyone who provided more than one answer was filed under "multiple."
Some smaller changes, I'd make sure people understood i meant Hero(ine) route, and not common route (3 respondents gave a common route answer), and by OST I meant entire game sound track and not one single song. I counted anyone who listed a particular track toward the source game. Also I would specify the game/subseries for gimmicks and not the individual gimmick, though for the most part people stuck to the core gimmick of the given sub series (i had one person give twipo as an answer, stunningly).
May seems to think that Chaos;Child is overrepresented due to the sort of people I attract, and maybe that's true. There's not really any way to prove it. Robotics;Notes is criminally underrepresented in these results, but I find that unsurprising. It's the game I probably see with the least motion in my infosphere. Even respondents who really like R;N largely gave votes to other entries.
Additionally, this information comes almost exclusively from western fans. It's not at all representative of what JP Fans think about the series, and I'm sure their opinions probably differ (definitely in respect to Occultic;Nine).
All that being said, are the results. Also note, not every category has the same amount of votes due to some people not answering some questions or other weirdness.
Figure 1: Favorite Entry. I honestly thought I would see more on Chaos;Head for this, and definitely more on R;N. The latter is a trend that will largely continue.
Figure 2: Favorite Protagonist. Takumi pulled his weight here, but it was still close between the winner Okabe and third place Takuru. Kaito getting 4 votes is a Miracle. I don't have the data for Multiple but I don't think Pollon appeared in any responses.
Figure 3: Believe it or not, Kurisu did not win Favorite Heroine. In fact, she almost tied for second with Nono. C;C Nono Route/True End spoilers
Spoiler
The outliers account for any character who received one vote, including the following:
Frau (Criminal tbh),
Ayase,
Suzuha,
Moeka,
and Hana. Frau only getting 1 is crazy, that's definitely a sample size problem tbh.
Figure 4: Absolutely devastating victory for best girl. Her winning doesn't surprise me in the least. Frankly, the series' strength has always been in its common routes. There's a reason I exalt Nono's route above the rest so much, and it's because it really is exceptional imo, and my sample concurred. Sena came in a distant second at 11, followed by the undecided, ayase, and so on. The huge spread of votes aside from the top 2 reflects the major quality variance in series routes I think.
Other represents 15 routes who only received one vote, including:
Nanami (@aWhiteScreen represent),
Yua,
Kozue,
Mayuri (Linear Bounded Phenogram),
Faris,
Lukako,
Hinae,
Uki,
Frau (wow),
Frau (DaSh),
Airi,
Rimi (love Chu Chu),
Kagari (this shocked me),
and 2 steins;gate 0 routes that neither respondent knew the name of. We also had 3 common route answers, two for Chaos;Child and one for Chaos;Head.
Figure 5: True Ending. I thought for sure Steins;Gate would edge this out, but Chaos;Child took the gold in the end. I personally prefer S;G's true end, as I have my hangups with the Chaos;Child true ending even if I do still like it. Surprised that Chaos;Head's true ending is so low, but I do think it's probably the "laziest" true end in the series, but still not bad.
Figure 6: Gimmick. In my opinion, they've never been a make-or-break part of the series. I'm looking at it from the perspective of the player's interaction with the game, and though I voted for Delusions in my own response, I'd probably pick the phone on a second pass. Delusions aren't super interactive, even if they do often lead to cool scenes. The only thing with the phone is that a lot of the cool stuff you can do with it, like seeing difference scenes, you don't even know about on a first playthrough.
You might argue that Chaos;Head and Child delusions should've been split, but I don't think so. They operate the exact same way, even if Child's delusions don't play as thematically into the game as Head's do. Steins;gate and steins;gate 0's phone triggers are also basically identical
Of note is how much Anonymous;Code shined here. This was the only time it did (comparatively) well in any category. People seem to really like the saving and loading feature, though I did have one person specify the hacking trigger.
And yes @Steve, I did change your vote to R;N.
Figure 7: Blowout victory for Steins;Gate. Honestly, I expected more out of Chaos;Head here. I knew S;G would do well, but I didn't think it would annihilate the competition as it did. I think Chaos;Child suffers here because it's the least "unique" of the artstyles that received representation. Chaos;Head's low budget mash of 2d/3d, Steins;gate's mold, Robotics;notes' 3d models, and Chaos;child is fairly vanilla. I love the art, and honestly it's probably my favorite quality wise, but the art direction in Chaos;Head plays very heavily into the strengths of the game and that's why I chose it myself.
Figure 8: Original Sound Track. The most competitive by far, and that's not a surprise considering it's all Takeshi Abo's work (aside from a few C;H tracks). Not much to say here, every game has an incredible OST and I would also have a hard time choosing just one. I picked S;G for this but I think C;C's highs are unbeaten.
Chaos;Head massacres on vocal tracks, however.
Now this next one is really just for fun. Figure 9: I aggregated all the votes in every category for each respective entry, with the exception of the Gimmicks category (exception exception: i included those for A;C) since you can't really fairly split those votes between entries. I also threw in some outliers, like including the 2 votes for MDE Mayuri route in Steins;Gate. Chaos;Child edges out as the total winner with 151 votes overall, followed closely behind by Steins;Gate at 134, and Chaos;Head in a more distant 3rd place at 90. R;N closed out with an unfortunate 25, and A;C came in dead last with 15. Occultic;Nine got ONE individual vote as previously mentioned, for art direction, so I left it off of the data. Maybe O;N Rehydrated will fix that.
So that's everything. Let me know what you think in the comments. Again, mostly just for fun and I don't draw any serious conclusions from this data, other than the obvious: Chaos:Child is the best entry in series history!
