In honour of what is in my mind a major milestone, I thought I'd make a little meta thread reflecting on the forum up to this point. To be honest, I never thought that we'd reach this point. I have always loved forums and wanted to run one, but never really thought it'd ever happen because I saw the technical barrier as being too high for me to broach. Additionally I am rather reclusive in nature, in fact were it not for the efforts of @dokyun and @Parzival this place likely would've never developed a userbase of any kind; I deeply appreciate all that you two have done for the site.
Many say that forums are dying, but in some respects I still maintain a little optimism. The reason why? I think that a lot of people don't actually enjoy using social media. Rather I propose that they are dependent on it, they boot it up unconsciously like a heroin addict getting their latest fix. How much can you actually remember from your time on these platforms? The answer is probably "not much". I can effortlessly remember my DBZ roleplays on a forum back in 2010, yet I struggle to recall any memories from the many Discord servers I've been in save for one or two exceptions.
Do you know why that is? Because you get to know people on forums. You make friends, you forge bonds, you're apart of something greater and much more tangible. Much of this is caused by the medium itself facilitating longer form and most of all human discourse, as opposed to the addiction and dependency that characterise algorithimic social media platforms. It's for this reason that I think one day we'll perhaps start seeing something of an exodus.
When will this exodus come? Who knows, but all I can hope is that my site is still around when it does. Because as of now, it is very difficult to start running a forum. Used to be you'd set up a script, pick up a topic and users would come streaming in. When I tried doing the same, I learned the hard way that this is no longer the reality of it all in 「PRESENT TIME」. Even if I could get someone to join the site, at best they'd browse it for a day or two, leave a few posts and then stop coming back because nobody else was there except me.
I remember being giddy just to see 3 users (including myself) online at once. I've seen the countless forum script installations that are total wastelands. It was all very discouraging, and I had all but given up on growing this site by the time 2026 rolled around. Getting a forum off the ground in any shape or form in the current year is brutal, and were it not for all of you it never would have happened. So excuse me if this post seems melodramatic or overly grandiose, but seeing the total post count reach into the 4 digits made me very happy. Even if this place was beamed out of existence tomorrow by the Organisation I would never forget that time I ran a forum that broke 1000 posts that were not all just me schizoposting. It truly means a lot to me.
I would also like to thank @capstasher , @Blond , @nyan , @cidoku , @alix , @deha28 , @Duk3 , @DrSchnautz , @Kallisto, @John Titor, @StylusNine, @mihai.the.golan, @Dweeeb and @glass, Deluoode certainly would not be the same without the high quality contributions from all of you. And know that even if I did not mention you by name, I read and appreciate every post. In honour of the milestone, I've also decided to repurpose the previously-locked "Help Desk" subforum into a meta board for people to talk about the site itself.
With that, I suppose this tangent has gone on for long enough. Administrator signing off.

Do not apologise, my friend. Instead, embrace your chuunibyou, revel in it. For it is chuunibyou alone, the will to do the impossible, that makes said impossible become possible.
DELUOODE WILL DEFEAT THE ORGANISATION!
Congratulations on the 1k. May this be but a tiny milestone in Deluoode's great future history.

From far away, so far away
A flowing river of illusion

Also, "Meta Land", might as well call it "Beyond the Load Region" and keep in touch with the SciADV theme.

Re: 1000 Posts
I have only just been shown this forum, but I'm really glad I was. A lot of what you said about social media rings true to me, it all just feels like mindless content to entertain you for the 5 seconds you see it. There really isn't much place anymore for real connections, but maybe that's just something I missed on. I have been looking for a while for a forum like this, I tried checking 4chan out but even the most mild topics end up being a cesspool of racism. Just from this post alone I can see that the people running this forum are motivated to create a fun space to hang around and have fun even if it's a small community.
Sorry for the cheesy rant, just happy to have found a place to chat on :O

Re: 1000 Posts
I do not know what seized me when writing the OP. Perhaps it was some form of electromagnetic wave beamed into my neurotransmitters by the Organisation to force these sentimental inclinatons upon me. It is truly terrifying to think that, even after having established a clear-cut informational channel through which us anti-Organisation forces can congregate, that one can still fall into the clutches of their evil influence!capstasher wrote: Thu May 07, 2026 2:42 amDo not apologise, my friend. But worry not, all you observers who have gathered here. For Deluoode will always remain On・Guard against any nefarious takedown attempts or offensives aimed at our stronghold. We shall expose the Organisation's crimes for the entire world to see, and our BBS will remain online for all eternal to this very end. Even in the face of the most egriegous of takedown attempts, the most conniving of double agents, or perhaps even if a lightning bolt (surely contracted by them) struck the server that I'm running this site from out back in my barn, we will always come crawling back like a cockroach that refuses to die!
That is the choice of 「The Fate Stone Gate - Steins;Gate」. El Psy Kongroo.

Happy to have been of assistance!
Admittedly, while Cap and I are probably the only ones who actually embody this ethos to any degree (and are actually capable of using more than one website or Discord server)- that's still what the CTRL is all about! A group of anons with bright futures who can't sit idly by when someone's in need!
Especially when the help needed is with something as noble and cool as establishing a forum in the age of social media, especially one centered around SciADV. Anyone fighting back against the machinations of the Committee like that is more than worthy of it in my book!
We're only about halfway through the year, but still, here's hoping 2027 will be even more fruitful!

Re: 1000 Posts
Kal was the first person to ever actually look at the site semi-regularly besides myself, even though he never made too many posts. It would be nice to see him check in more often. There are unfortunately a few older users who I invited but nobody really posted besides me at the time that I brought them on, so most of them (understandably) got bored and left after a few posts. It's upsetting cause in a way it feels like a missed opportunity, like had I invited them now perhaps they'd have stuck around. Maybe one day they'll come backParzival wrote: Sat May 09, 2026 12:41 pmHappy to have been of assistance!

Congratulations on the 1,000 posts!
I still remember how I got here. I was scrolling on Twitter and saw Parzival tweet about the site, and I thought to myself “Why not?” And here we are.
This forum is amazing, and it’s full of incredible people. I hope it goes on for many, many more years. Here’s to more Deluoode for years to come!
