Gateway;Pages Deluoode! (Manga Club)

Hither do the clergymen, physicians, and noble blood amongst us convene, to discourse upon Otaku matters not pertaining to SciADV, such as other visual novels, anime and manga.

ComiPa is finished! Many thanks to Cap for scanning and preserving the fifth volume for us all to read!

I quite liked the story arcs of the last two volumes. As someone who's struggled with how/what/why I create, seeing the doujinka also struggle with these things was pretty relatable. Am I creating for myself, or to get attention/money from others? What is it that keeps me motivated? All of our characters seem to have found a happy ending for themselves, so maybe I'll get there too someday.

I didn't realize this until the author mentioned it in the end-of-volume page, but he would later go on to create Murder Princess... which I haven't read/seen myself but would always see the OVA adaptation come up when looking for relatively niche 2000s OVAs.

...also, how did they get their hands on the Tsukihime remake so early? I envy them.

I've finally finished volumes 4 and 5. I did a pretty horrible job of staying on schedule, so I don't know if I'll participate in next week's events. Volume 4 was fun, you rarely see works go into the whole commericialism vs artistic value dichotomy. I'm kind of surprised at how many characters this manga introduces, with this volume introducing two. We definitely won't get satisfying conclusions for them given that there's not too much runtime remaining. Aya is a sweetie though.

Reading volume 5 and capstasher's home scan is really quite impressive, to me it looks noticeably higher quality than the 1-4 scans and helps me read easier on the smaller screen I'm on. Nice work and a thanks for preserving it. Loved the little Master Roshi cameo with Kazuki carrying the milk jugs. Also the critical Comic Z agent is cool. Also it was nice finally seeing Mizuki come around on things, makes you want to see what happens next.

Some lines that I liked
"THEY WILL BE THE KEY TO WORLD CONQUEST BY THE OTAKU ARMY!" -Taishi's very own Truth Nuke
"Never underestimate the power of the otaku grapevine, Mizuki-chan!" -Yuu
