The Deluoode Derby: GAME "NIGHT"

I had gauged interest in chat, but finally I have decided to make a thread on the matter. The long awaited game "night" is finally here! The way it will work is simple. People will nominate titles and then we'll vote from the available options. Whatever has the most votes will be played at the next event.

Events will take place on the first Saturday of every month, meaning that this month's will be held on July 3rd. I had originally floated the idea of playing it on the 1st of every month, but felt that this was A. too short notice from the thread's creation date and B. carried the risk of falling on a Sunday (October), which I do not want to dedicate the majority of my waking hours in a day to this stuff lol.

It has been loosely decided that the time it takes place will be earlier than the Otaku Oratories. The 9 PM UTC time interferes with us ESTfags due to dinner plans, and going later would be detrimental to Europeans. At this stage I am really quite unsure of a good time, and as such a poll will be present in the OP to help decide.

The inagural derby event will be Garry's Mod played on the Future Gadget Laboratory map. On this map there is an easter egg hunt, and whoever completes it first will receive a 250 upa payout. Depending on the amount of people we draw, 2nd and 3rd may also receive payouts but this is not set in stone. It goes without saying but please do not play single player and complete the hunt before we play and then pretend that you won legitimately, that would be very lame. If you have already explored on your own time, notify me so that you can be excluded from the bounty.

Once someone wins, players will either continue searching for the fun of it or do other things. There is for example a media player that allows you to view YouTube videos, so we could groupwatch an anime or documentary or something together if it's present on YouTube from the FGL! Additionally if people want we could perhaps try hosting another map or mod, maybe a prop hunt game or something? I'm not sure, it'll be a see when we get there sort of thing I believe.

Although GMod has built-in text and voice chat, this could be a problem for future titles. For instance a game I want to suggest, Mario Kart Wii, has no built-in social features. As far as text-chat goes, we could use the on-site chat. But for voice chat I am less sure; I know of programs like Mumble, but I have never used them before. I believe that's all I have for the OP at the moment, aside from a reminder to take screenshots and jot down memorable moments with other observers in this thread for futurekeeping!

I can do this Friday at pretty much any of these times, but most weeks I work Fridays from 7 PM UTC to 3 AM UTC

Each Friday, I have 8:45 PM — 12:00 AM UTC blocked out due to prior obligations, so if it’s going to be on a Friday, then pretty much the earlier the better for me.

I am open to other days. What works best for you all? Maybe Saturday? I may restart the poll if we decide to move the day.

Any day. As long as we don't start very late, I have no problems.

Thursdays would be the absolute best for me, but Saturdays/Sundays between noon and night EST would also work.

Saturday does fall on July 4th, which might be a problem for some of us, but longterm I think makes the most sense. Maybe this weeks'll be on Friday then future ones on Saturday? Not sure. With that being said, I've re-opened the poll.

Mumble is good for voice chat, it's easy to set up a server but we can also just take over an existing one-- I know a couple.

Also, you should compile the actual list of gmod addons/maps we're gonna be using; downloading them from the host sucks and isn't persistent (you'll have to download them again if you get disconnected). There's a way to make addon collections from the workshop that you can bulk download.

Already mentioned this to the webmaster but assuming everyone has a functional steam install we can just use the Deluoode steam group group chat to voice chat/message. works out of the box and shouldn't be any trouble for anyone to use.
