Deluoode's AMV contest

We talked about AMV's and we even joke about making our own YTMND in one of our anime sessions. So why not? Doing one is not so hard, and we could even have a competition and everything.

I'd be interested, but are you willing to host it? My hands are rather full haha. We could post the finished videos on the shared VidLii channel, sounds like it'd be fun to me. Could also pay the winner out in Upas, that was actually a big part of why I added the feature; to give people something to bet on the matches in the MUGEN tournament with and also something to spend the winnings on. Could have people vote on the best AMV and 1st-3rd get Upa prize rewards, or just 1st if we don't get a lot of people.

Don't worry May, I'm the one in charge.

Even though I have my personal PTSD with the site. Sure, bonus points if we make the AMV's look and feel like the 2000's. If I have time tomorrow, I think I’ll put together some rules for the contest.

Thought I'd post some classic AMVs to maybe help form some motiviation for this. @aeon posted this yesterday in Gikopoi and I didn't really have a chance to sit down and watch it cause we were in the middle of shows but wow, this shit is what all AMVs should strive to be. I had originally planned to do a Chaos;Head AMV but now don't think I'm going to because it's impossible to beat this. The way he fucking superimposes MSN onto the PC screen, we literally do not have the technology to make shit like this anymore.

Some other really good ones that I like.

After talking at length with my dakimakura, I finally came up with some rules for the contest:

-There is no time limit.

-You can use any anime, as long as it isn’t modern (anything before the 2020's).

-To enter the contest, all you need to do is to upload the AMV to any site you want. Just don't forget to post your video on this thread.

-You can use any songs you like, just make sure they fit either with the themes of the anime or what’s shown on screen.

-Editing is highly encouraged, so go crazy with it if you can.

-The ranking system will go from 0 to 100. Whoever gets the most points wins and gets some Upas as a reward. Same goes for 2nd and 3rd place.

-And have fun. If it’s not fun, why bother?

So far, these are the rules, they will definitely change over time and get more polished as things go on. If you have any doubts or questions, don’t hesitate to ask me.

-The AMV has to be a minimum of 2 minutes
Eh, I don't think having a minimum length is necessary. Because like, most of us are fairly amateur editors I assume. So the shorter the run time, the more crazy we could probably go with the editing. Not a huge deal but I think having shorter vids is fine and that the bigger concern would be longer ones.
-To enter the contest, you have to create an account on VidLii and post the video there. You can use this thread to link your video.
Unfortunately, VidLii doesn't work with the media embed system we have. I was thinking that if users want their videos could be reposted to the Deluoode VL channel, but not that every submission has to be posted there. People should be able to upload it to whatever service they want to I think, whether it's YouTube or their personal server.

I think those are my only two contentions, the rest seems good. Although the amount of Upas given out may vary depending on the number of contestants. Like if we get 5 people then in that case I think it'd only make sense for 1st and 2nd to get prizes. But otherwise seems solid, looking forward to it.

All right, thanks for the feedback May! I will definitely start changing things up.

Right now, I don’t have a deadline. I was thinking mid to late July would be good, but I’ll have to check with more members.
