Mumble is good for voice chat, it's easy to set up a server but we can also just take over an existing one-- I know a couple.

Also, you should compile the actual list of gmod addons/maps we're gonna be using; downloading them from the host sucks and isn't persistent (you'll have to download them again if you get disconnected). There's a way to make addon collections from the workshop that you can bulk download.
i am third worlder please make it easy for me to download plugins etc in advance, especially over ftp / http / torrent (web seeds ftw)

Do you plan on attending the events/meetups in the future (or now if you want since we're on MC)? I've no issue with you voting if so but I haven't seen you at one yet. Don't want a nonparticipant to sway the outcome, should've probably put that in my original post.

<well we wouldn't want someone who hasn't been able to play to have a say in it

makes sense to me

I would love to see Rancher (and anyone else) attend to be very clear, but you don't need to join the VC to join the game. He mentioned being concerned over his ping before (though I think it'd be fine myself as I'm sure we're all somewhat used to playing in rooms with people on the other side of the planet) which isn't an issue that would be fixed by using Mumble.

Mumble uses very little bandwidth/memory, Steam uses a lot. If you have a slow connection or old computer then using Mumble will let you put your bandwidth and RAM into the game and still voice chat instead of letting Steam eat it. Steam uses as much memory as a whole browser (because that's what it is these days).

We'll try Mumble and see how it works for us when we go to the End if it'll help accomodate more connections then. That'll be at 9:30 PM UTC (5:30 PM Eastern), so if you're wanting to come hop in now.

Yeah today's Derby was a fun time, spent a long while playing MC, beat the Ender Dragon, then the VC went for a time after that. Thanks to everyone for showing up. How we're pulling up to Committee HQ...
