Maaaan, as a big EoS fan (as in, I wrote my final English creative writing exam in college about both Crimson 1 and 2 and ended up writing twice as much as the maximum limit), I'm a bit ashamed I've never given Nightingale a real chance! That must be repaired immediately...RadioHades wrote: Fri Aug 28, 2026 4:50 pmAlways preferred the earlier Dream II & Dawn of Dreams from Pan.thy.monium, felt much rawer. Yet, Khaooohs is the only one I have on CD.
Talking about the master, you should really (all of you) try Nightingale. I know it's corny as fuck, but:
1. The first album is a masterpiece that sounds like a cross between Katatonia and The Sisters of Mercy with a tasty dose of synth and drum machine.
2. Even past that, Swano's consistency and talent simply makes it work. And his voice only rivaled by that of Peter Steele... thank God I'm not a woman.

Re: Website Updating Thread
This is not a drill, I FINALLY updated my personal website. Fuckin' miraculous, right? The two main things are that I integrated all of my articles into my blog software, making them way more convenient to write than having to manually format HTML pages by hand so hopefully I'll do that more often. Reimported all my old articles into it as well, and now everything I write will be on my RSS/ATOM feed.
Also set up a new guestbook that runs on Vichan, an imageboard software.
Think I'll write a little post about it all tomorrow, but for now I am tired.

Re: Website Updating Thread
New mascot characters info.
I'm trying to create a full cast of characters for general site stuff. I wanted to get into drawing to make more art of characters from franchises that I think needed more fanart representation (Arcana Heart more than any other), but it turns out that having your own characters is even more fun and exciting and I eventually would really like to make a visual novel or something with all these characters. I always like shows with a bit of weird sci-fi tinge to otherwise ordinary things, and I think I like the idea of the setting for these characters being a slightly weird, "post-collapse" version of Japan where most things are done on improvised local computers. But I don't know how far I'll push it. If you are interested, this is some "lore" for the world-building I've been experimenting with (spoilering because a lot of this would probably be a trvke at the end of a visual novel... so if I ever make it, you'll know the main twists at the end here first I guess?):
Also, I'll shill it here again the day of or before but I'm having a CyTube party on 9/26 (this Saturday), 18:00 UTC. We'll watch the movie Boss Nigger (a classic), the OVA Interlude, and probably another OVA if enough people show up.

Spoiler
Something horrible happened. We don't really know the details. Megumi is trying to find out. What we know is that the archipelago of Japan seems to have been fought over as a colony of the US and China and violently rebelled against both. Global civilization has almost totally broken down. Hawaii, the Aleutian Islands, and most of Polynesia was occupied by Japan at some point by a group who aimed to recreate the Japanese Empire and ultimately to reach the United States and unite the entire Pacific under Japanese control. It didn't work entirely. But somewhere along the way, a brilliant scientist from Japan came to the Aleutian Islands with a group of Japanese women's' eggs that had been genetically curated with the highest level of "spiritual" giftedness of the Japanese people. His goal was to provide an equivalent of the Svalbard Arctic Seed Vault, so that Japanese people would never disappear from the earth even in the event of a global catastrophe. He set his base of operations in the Aleutians and also installed a system of computers with an intranet that would preserve as much of Japanese culture and tradition as possible. He didn't discriminate either. He had games, arcades, eroge, etc. all in there. The people who live in the Japanese Aleutians in the year 2XXX are mostly offspring of his curated stem cells, intrepid Japanese colonists, native Unangans, and the occasional Yupik or Inupiaq immigrant from the nearby mainland. The state of Alaska boomed in population and infrastructure in the second half of the 21st century as global temperatures kept rising. But most of the state's society collapsed after the great catastrophe. The Inupiaq united Alaska, Northern Canada, and Greenland as a contiguous Inupiaq nation, aiming to collaborate and unite with other tribes in Alaska and northern Canada that survived. The Japnaese architect of the survival plan did not want to erase Japanese culture by melding it into Alaska Native culture, but he had great respect for them as fellow animists and sought to create a cooperative group in the Arctic which would continue old, animistic ways in order to recreate the world on better terms after global catastrophe. The society we focus on in this world is this improvised, animist society that is trying to recreate a great past (with a few stubborn Russian Orthodox followers in the Aleutians still clinging onto their own old ways). Since most of the society is children born from test tubes, a great many of them are missing parents, which is why so many are teenagers who live alone with a high degree of autonomy (and definitely NOT an excuse to have no parents in the way the eroge always go where the parents are in another country for months on end!). Though they are Japanese, many of them are themselves digging through the old Japanese archives of culture without a full context, so a strange syncretic culture has born of Japanese in a unique biome with other native animist traditions seeping in (sometimes it seems they try to recreate what they see in anime to a degree that might not have been totally reflective of the original...). The parents that are there only vaguely remember the times when the great war went on as most global communication systems were severed. The architect also intentionally wanted his history to be "mythologized" and so did his best to cover his tracks and hide the real nature of his activities. The year is Reiwa 100 (or some other later Emperor's fake name), because the idea is that the emperor and heir apparent went missing during the great catastrophe. So the Japanese took up the same line as Shia Islam: The Emperor is residing in occultation and will reappear. So one plot line in the story could be the Emperor reappearing in an occult, supernatural fashion and appointing a follower to restore the line of the Chrysanthemum Throne. The characters live up in the mountains, so they have managed to move on from the Aleutians into the interior of Alaska. (I need to think more about this setting.)

Re: Website Updating Thread
I'm mainly making this post because I am really happy with the October image of the month I chose for my personal site. Soul Eater 4 Life!
As for changes of substances, I pushed some small changes/fixes for my previous update on my personal site, also opened a dynamic leaderboard on my automatic TTs website that tracks cool stats and stuff like that. Still need to import some bug fixes and historical data, which I think I'll do tonight so by the time you see this it may have already been done. Of course the big one is that I upgraded the PHP version of all of my sites (except for the Enthusiast/fanlisting collective ones, which have to run on PHP 7.4.33) which enables me to keep everything secure and up to date now. I'll probably upgrade this forum to 3.3.19 soonish for example, and it also enabled me to setup Phantasm since the version of Drupal I wouldve had to use on PHP 7.4.33 was no longer very secure.

Forgot to reply with my followup, but I fixed this. I hadn't yet accounted for the fact that reading in my tiny main area was a PITA, so I made it so that it automatically converts my articles into the old article template I had before. Now when you click a page you can either view it on the writings page by clicking the dropdown tab, or go to its dedicated one by clicking on the name. The comment section also looks much nicer compared to the one that I had before.RadioHades wrote: Thu Sep 24, 2026 7:26 amHeads up, the text is cut (hidden by the sidebar) on all pages.
