The SciADV series has been a part of my weeb life for as long as I can remember honestly. Steins;Gate was my first anime, Chaos;Head followed soon after as I didn't really know better. Once I'd get into visual novels, S;G1 and 0 would be the first ones I'd go through, followed by the Chaos duology many years later. I like sci-fi, conspiracies and pseudoscience like it's likely the case of many people here (Zero Escape is another series I'm fond of for that). Steins;Gate's characters are appealing, Takumi is my top guy, and chaos;child had a very fun detective story to untangle, just the way She intended it. I should eventually read the robotics entires and A;C, someday, surely...What makes SciADV special to you and what's your favourite entry?
I love the Xeno series, especially Xenogears and Xenosaga Episode III, very impressive J-RPGs. The most otaku interest of mine is likely rhythm games, I've been a BEMANI-head for about a decade at this point and couldn't imagine living without DDR or IIDX! Another game that defines me is Radaint Silvergun, I owe Hitoshi Sakimoto my nickname. What's are your favourite pieces of non-SciADV otaku media? (can be other visual novels, anime, manga, jrpgs, etc.)
Shogun.How'd you find this forum?
Quite bleak. I wish decentralization was still important for most people. I liked finding out about video game trivia and game mods through more outlets than a Bluesky thread and/or a half-private (and likely to be deleted soon) Discord server. I don't really see a problem in the existence of massive social media, their relevance and the way they are used reflect what people currently seek out of the internet. Mass consumption, short-spanned content, "entertainment". Forums like this one fell out of general relevance as more and more normies got access to the web, and that's fine. It becomes a problem when even the pioneers of the Internet are "forced" to use such networks to remain in reach with the new audiences. What's your opinion on cyberspace as it is now?
Some people still take the time to make their own little home, I like them. I don't count myself into that category yet, my personal page is a bit too neglected to count.
Reverse engineering of video games is a field I've been getting into reliably for the past 3-4 years, one small step at a time. We were given Assembly and Compiler classes for my CompSci Master's, I use that knowledge as a pillar for the rest. Otherwise, as I mentioned before, I play a lot of rhythm games and try getting good at DDR mostly. Lately I've been 1ccing shmups too, Radiant Silvergun is the one I'd love to conquer the most. I already cleared the Very Easy Arcade mode half a year ago and even got the WR for it on the Steam release. I would like to eventually be able to clear the Story mode as well, and on the Normal difficulty instead. What are some of your foremost hobbies?
