It's been too long since I played Steins;Gate, did it talk about the 12th theory in the original? It probably did, but it's been a long time.

On the JP site it says, in the story section:

神をも冒涜する12番目の理論
―それは、俺たちが手にした偶然の産物。

The 12th theory which commits sacrilege against god even
― that is the result which we obtained by chance.

I noticed the opening movie puts focus on the other theories too. It shows:
01 Neutron Star Theory
02 Black Hole Theory
03 Light Speed Theory
04 Tachyon Theory
05 Wormhole Theory
06 Exotic Matter Theory
07 Cosmic String Theory
08 Quantum Gravity Theory
09 Cesium Laser Theory
10 Elementary Particle Ring and Laser Theory
11 Dirac Antiparticle Theory
And the 12th theory....

(That's what it says)

Kinda cool, look forward to checking this out.
I'm pretty sure the 12th is supposed to be Attractor Field Theory. I remember in the beginning of the story where Kurisu does her podium speech she goes through the different theories, but the 12th hadn't been invented yet.

You guys think post-A;C copers may have been right and the new endings and worldlines may have something to do with what happened in Anonymous;Code?
Even better, they were right on the money. Look at what appears in the trailer and compare it to the A;N UI:

Anonymous;Code stocks are going to the moon baby! Always believe guys, let's positive thinking!

Isn't that scene removed from the Elite script, and thus Reboot's? Weird to put emphasis on an iconic scene from the original that it seems won't be in this.

I only played the original so I wouldn't know, but if it follows the anime script more closely then they probably cut it. That's my main gripe with the show, you know, I liked all of the drawn-out explanations and details from the game.

Of the listed features, the first is:

FEATURE 001
より読みやすくなったシナリオ
The scenario has been made easier to read.

「STEINS;GATE ELITE」のシナリオをベースに調整され、よりテンポよく読みやすい内容に。 さらに、新たな世界線・エンディングシナリオが追加実装! まだ誰も見たことのない物語が、あなたを待っています。
With Steins;Gate Elite's Scenario as a base, the tempo has been made better to make the contents easier to read. Furthermore, a new world line and ending scenario have been implemented! A story yet to be seen by anyone is waiting for you.

Curious what they meant by this. I'm not too familiar with Elite but I know they cut some stuff, does "easier to read" mean "we cut more"? If you keep cutting things it'll get really easy to read but I'm not sure how that's a good metric. Alternatively, does them making it easier to read mean they added more explanations and more story, or put back the things they removed? (this is cope)

Same with a better tempo. That could mean "we cut out interesting bits so you can just turn off your brain easier". I'm honestly not too sure how else to interpret it because I never had an issue with the tempo of the original. But it is based on elite so maybe elite had tempo problems they're fixing. (this is cope)

I know some had guessed that the new story would be adaptations of existing side material, but looking at that last line now "A story yet to be seen by anyone" seems like it's brand new? Very much in the possible A;C connection faction even though I wasn't up until now.

The other features it lists are "All new voice and sound recording" "Refined graphics" (lol, original looked better) and "Lively character expressions via E-mote". E-mote is a system used to add motion to sprites in VNs, in case anyone didn't know. I've never really been a fan, but it doesn't kill anything for me so it is whatever.

So like, for me unfortunately three of the four features are not really features. New voice and sound recording is fine I guess, though I never had a problem with the original so I'm neutral though maybe I'll be surprised on release (for better or for worse). Refined graphics, the original S;G was well known for having great graphics, some of the best VN sprites for example I've ever seen. New looks good, but still worse than the original because it was a very high bar in my opinion. And then again Emote is neutral borderline negative from my perspective. The tempo part I don't know how to interpret honestly, but if it means cutting stuff I won't be too happy. New scenario for me is the main pull, because the Sci;Adv series releases new stuff so rarely that its one of those "I'll take anything I can get" situations. That, and while I've read it a few times in English I've since learned Japanese to a decent level and would like to read it in that.

I will note that I have not read Elite and if anyone here has it would be appreciated if you could give us more detail on this. But I've always heard that the Elite script cuts 30% of the text (it might've been mentioned up-thread), but never what exactly that entails. After doing a cursory search online it seems that most core story details are kept. I did see it recurringly mentioned that the Faris chapter is trimmed down a lot and that a Luka CG at the end of his route is cut, but not much else besides that.

So given that the core story seems to be kept but so much of the text is still cut, I suspect the whole "making it easier to read" thing is them cutting down a lot of the science discussion. But that's like a huge part of what makes the game cool in my opinion, I don't think removing all the complexity is a good thing. There being actual logic behind S;G's time travel is a big part of what makes it so enjoyable, you can understand how it works as opposed to most stories where the time travel is basically just magic or mana that you aren't supposed to try to understand.

I suppose for that camp of people that thinks the beginning is too slow the Elite script would likely be a boon, but would such people buy a remake anyway? I doubt it, but companies are always trying to expand their audience so this is likely another case of that. But yeah, largely agree with your breakdown and I think most of us are just in it for the new story content.

The English website for Steins;Gate Reboot has launched.
https://steinsgate.jp/reboot/en-us/

It confirms that we are receiving one new ending or worldline, as well as a new scenario. It also states that, while it is based on the Elite script, the game features a "substantially expanded volume of text" from said script. The most interesting (and perhaps grim) bit of news seems to be that the physical NX/NX2/PS5 releases are going to release 2 months later than the digital PC/Xbox versions, with the latter set to release in August while the former will be in October. This is rather strange to me, and while I'm not sure if it's exactly a delay it certainly does not inspire confidence.

It also seems that we will not be receiving the Limited and Super Limited versions in the West. Which is rather a shame as I was considering buying them, but us gaijin will have to import if we want them I suppose. We are apparently receiving a steelbook edition, though considering the C;C/C;H double pack came with the steelbook free if you bought it on launch I can't help but feel a bit miffed by that if they're charging extra for it. Oh well.

Hmm, that's odd, cause as far as I can tell all the JP versions are releasing in August. Still (mostly) no pre-order links either for the western release. Debating whether I will buy this game period, but I probably will, and if I do I'll probably get the JP limited edition so I can get the bonus stuff like the special box, 「Steins;Gate Re:Boot」Visual Collection, and the soundtrack and 15th anniversary discs. My wallet won't be happy though. Shame the super limited edition is so expensive, the essentially all S;G VN soundtrack disc would be cool to have but not $100 or more extra cool.

As far as I can tell the western release special edition gets a steel book and a sticker (lol), but the special box for the JP limited edition it doesn't specifically say it is a steelcase, I'm hoping it's a more standard VN box, I'm a fan of those. I do like steelcases as well, I have the C;H/C;C double pack for example.
