With some delay, the Baron's messengers arrive to the frontlines in Iberia.

"We were expecting to find you in Egypt. We were very surprised when we were told, in Greek, that we would find you in the Iberian Peninsula. We represent Baron von Ungern-Sternberg, we have arrived with an official treaty of alliance."
"Oh well give that here, lemme have a look over it" Ryder replies, taking the letter and squinting at it, only to realise it's written in a foreign script. "Lawrence, come 'ere, see if you can make out what this says"
"This semeth to been Mongolian, ywriten in som manere of the Cyrillic script. I sholde been able to undirstonde it... Ther semeth noon hidde strenges, so fer as ich may perceiven. A clene request for alliaunce bitwene oure twoe naciouns. Thou moste have y-mad a goode impression upon the Baron, for this is nat a thyng he hath evere y-yeven bifore. Ich counseille thee to signe it, Riderow."
"Well then give it 'ere. I uhh... does anyone round here have a pen? I seem to have forgotten mine across the ocean..."
"We came prepared, Sir Rowe" say the messengers, offering him a rather ornate fountain pen. Its made of some blue polished material and gold, with Egyptian designs carved into the gold bands. Two blue gems are set into the clip of the pen. "This is yours to keep, Sir Rowe, a sign of our alliance to last beyond our lives. It was inspired by the designs of your people. It is made of lapis lazuli and gold, considered sacred to the Egyptians, as you may know.
"Yeah.. I knew that.. Well shucks, thank you very much folks."
Ryder takes the letter, places it on the hood of his trusty Ford and signs it, before handing it back. They hand him a second one "A copy for you, to keep."
He signs the second paper. "I gotta keep this safe somewhere." Thinking on where the best place to put it is, he suddenly gets an idea. "Well that's gonna do just well." He swings the door on the passenger's side open, and places it in the glove compartment. "As safe as a safe. Ain't no one finding it now. You fellas want to stay for a drink?"
Having heard stories of Ryder's moonshine, the messengers excuse themselves and start heading home. Ryder places the pen in his overalls' chest pocket.
"Riderow, art thou yare? We moten eft gon upon the forwarde. Portyngale abideth us, thanne Fraunce and Italie."
"Italy too? Damn, we gettin pizza or somethin'?"
"Pece, nat piza. We shul gete a pece of lond. His magesté the Byzantine Emperour seketh lordship of Rome."

(Official alliance with 2nd Mongolian Empire is now in force. Take over Portugal then spills equally split between France and Italy. Bonus: +14)

The Hyperborean Empire signs on the cessation of hostilities between itself and the 2nd Mongol Empire, along with the terms of the peace accords, officially establishing an NAP with the Mongols.

Simultaneously, Ambassador Dyatlov of Hyperborea establishes contact with the Pharaoh of East Memphis, clearing up any misunderstandings the 2 empires may have had with each other, and establishing an alliance with the New Kingdom of East Memphis. The agreement establishes Moscow as the "Third Rome" of now allied Orthodox nations, and in exchange for taking Hyperborean refugees fleeing the Yugoslav conflict in Eastern Europe, Hyperborea agrees to send Memphis their latest military technology, as well as the technical know-how to establish their own production, including the secrets behind their shagohods, to aid in their struggle own against the Yugoslav foe.

Free from the threat of the Baron, Hyperborea focuses its forces on defending from Yugoslavia (+9)

They do (though IMO it's made dubs far too common, will change that whenever we play again), but your bonus for this turn will only be +3 since the peace only takes effect next turn.

The Mongols calling off the invasion was disappointing. I'm tired of just rolling for fun. You know the saying, you can't win if you don't play right? I'll RP this later.

Officiating the alliance between themselves and the Hyperboreans, Ryder pauses and thinks to himself for a moment:
"Hang on a second, what the hell was I doin' entering in them non-aggression pacts with the Yugoslavs. Those fellas are damned commies... I can't believe I'm sayin' this but maybe Bill was right to bomb 'em."

(Advancing further into France, taking 1 territory in Greece and re-taking at least one territory in Italy if we're pushed out. Bonus:+16)
