"Let's game theory this out, Prokofyich.

The Yugoslavs are spread too thin as of now. They foolishly insisted on never conquering Turkey, so their troops are busying themselves with swatting off Turkish advances, and their invasions of Poland and France were facing resistance from both ourselves and partisans in France fighting with our provided aid. They now also face the Moors. We'll put a pin in their incursion into France and what it may mean for later."

"Meaning they have to conquer at least one of the 3 before they can advance into further territories?"

"Yes, it's almost like a hard rule of this atemporal world established by whatever mad god laughed into my mind all those years ago. A rule the Baron seems to have forgotten. We managed to fend him off from Ukraine and Belarus despite his attempts at small incursions, though he managed to spill into Estonia and Latvia from the Russian west."

"Careful sir, such actions could invite the wrath of the very god you speak of."

"I'm willing to invite it if it gives us shot at survival. I would rebel against God on His Throne if it meant the survival of Hyperborea."

"Invoking penalties on a god, this awareness and ability... Is it because of the child?"

"I should say so, at least until I am struck down for my insolence." Yuriev remarks, with a shit-eating grin on his face. "As I said before, we Russians- through my efforts we shall all evolve into weapons that surpass anything that could even be derived from the Shagohod technology." He takes a breath, "and speaking of; the abomination the Yugoslavs have created. Let's hope my arrogant soul isn't correct in my assumption that I possess far more intelligence than it could ever hope to, somehow."

"What do you mean?"

"It may be just a slave to something even worse than the markets. Ideology. A thoughtless beast birthed of mad dreams."

"If your assumption is wrong?"

"It has already taken Poland, and then, perhaps after peacocking to Memphis in France a bit, it will go for Germany."

"With what certainty can you say that? Such an irrational monstrosity seems intent on our destruction. Will it not invade further into our lands?"

"It's a gamble I'm making, yes, but the boons Germany could provide it are immeasurable. As of now only the Baron poses it any threat, and even then that threat is largely negligible. Taking Germany would render it the premier power in the land of the time anomaly that we're aware of. The Baron would pose virtually no threat as the Horde currently stands. He knows that, that's why he's turned traitor against his own homeland. Only with the bonus a fully conquered Russia grants could he hope to stand a chance against Yugoslavia now that its taken Poland and once it conquers Germany and France. We'll take advantage of this."

"How so?"

"It's a long winded explanation, but remember Egypt's incursion into France?"

"Yes?"

"Say I'm right so far. Yugoslavia will still be stuck in European Turkey, France, and then Germany. Meaning, not only will they be unable to enter Spain to halt Egypt's advance for a time, but doing so would render them unable to advance further in our territory. Clearly the Yugoslavs are intent on our destruction, so they'll choose to keep Egypt contained beyond the Pyrenees, and any "message" they could send directly into the Kingdom via their naval corridors would also distract them from us. We can count on Germany, France, and hopefully Turkey as well once they realize how much its hindering them, to distract them for a time. The Baron, meanwhile...

We could choose to not push back on his incursion into the Baltics to keep him distracted there, but it wouldn't be worth it, I think. It would too easy for him to conquer them and just move on to our more important territories. We will take back the 3 Latvian and 2 Estonian territories he took so we can retain their minor bonuses. I'm sure he'll ignore the Baltics for a while, it's more important to him that he disables our bonuses from Belarus and Ukraine, though I don't imagine it'll be the main focus, maybe a territory or two of each at most. His focus, I'm sure, will be on taking all of Russia before Yugoslavia can swallow Germany whole."

"Could we mount a retaking of the territories in Belarus and Ukraine?"

Yuriev sits in thought for a moment. "I doubt it would be worth the effort. He'll keep pushing back against any defense we mount with the freedom only really being focused on one not fully taken country allows. No, aside from our primary focus of the 5 Baltic territories, we'll utilize the bonuses we still have with Ukraine and Belarus to have the bulk of our forces mount a full scale invasion of Kazakhstan."

"Pardon?"

"The Shagohods and bombs are ready now, yes?"

"Yes, sir..."

"The tests were successful?"

"To our very specifications."

"Good, then we will push from the territory we still hold in Russia. Uralsk will be the first city we use a Shagohod and its nuclear payload on. I understand nearly half of the Shagohods are on the other side of the Baron's divide, yes?"

"Yes."

"Contact the pilots and their assigned squadrons. In fact, prepare all our forces in the west. I didn't want to resort to these tactics, and I'm taking them even further than the Reds of my time did, but it's time. Scorch the Earth rather than let it fall in all its usefulness into enemy hands."

"Sir... All this? Surely the Baron will merely encircle us in Kazakhstan?"

"I'm making a gamble here, Prokofyich. A gamble for survival. The bonus Kazakhstan - and indeed, much of Central Asia- provides is nothing compared to the boon Russia does. So longer as we make it clear we have no intention of touching Persia or Pakistan, our advance should only hurt his Mongol pride. I can only pray he proves more rational than The Machine."

"That's quite the gamble."

"You have to make some in the game of survival."

"Once he takes Russia, though, won't it be easy to destroy us from then on?"

"Remember what I mentioned about Yugoslavia and Turkey?"

"Yes."

"Yugoslavia pushing into Anatolia, presuming it does, should alarm the Baron- Turkey borders Persia, letting Yugoslavia take it as I assume they'll try, poses the risk of them disabling his current best singular bonus. Even with Russia under his control, it will still prove to be a vital territory for him. By the end of this turn Yugoslavia will have under its control the equivalent of two Persias. To say nothing of when they conquer France and perhaps even make a go for Britain."

"You think the Baron will push into Anatolia?"

"I can't say for sure, but I don't see the rest of Turkey remaining untouched by both empires for much longer."

"It may not serve as enough of a distraction."

"That's the biggest bet I'm making."

"This is all a massive gamble."

"Touché, but this one really takes the cake. See, even if the Baron takes Russia, with Yugoslavia all but guaranteed to take Germany, with all it has now, and with what little access he has to Yugoslavia, and even if we don't take into consideration the matter of defending Mongol Persia from a Yugoslav incursion via Anatolia- Yugoslavia will still undoubtedly be the most powerful force on the map. Unless..."

"Unless?"

"The only hope the Baron will have at standing a chance against them should my predictions be accurate is by invading and conquering Outer Heaven controlled India. It's the only other bonus on par with Russia and Germany, and it's far from Yugoslavia and so isolated that the only real risk there is in taking it is Outer Heaven's forces themselves."

"India, Turkey, and us... Will the Baron really do as you say?"

"I haven't the faintest idea for certain, but it makes logical sense. If I'm right about the Baron only intending on small incursions into our bigger bonus lands until he can accrue the higher bonus lands... And if I'm right about the distractions Turkey, Germany, and France will serve for Yugoslavia..."

"Then our forces in the rest of Eastern Europe can be used to steer Yugoslavia and the Mongol Horde into each other."

"Precisely, they'll fight our war for us. And regardless of who wins or loses, Hyperborea survives to another day."

"This is quite the gamble, sir... And one that makes no mention of Memphis, might I add."

"They will serve as a guarantee of distraction for Yugoslavia. War will most certainly break out between them both."

"Then our move, sir?"

"Take back the Baltics, their small bonuses are of little use to the Baron and Selimović, and as such may be of some small use for us in the times ahead. Frankly, we need to take them to not be spread to thin to mount our invasion. Our forces in the west and north will pincer the Mongols in the Baltics. Then alert the bulk of our forces, we're mounting an invasion of Kazakhstan. We'll push to the border with Turkmenistan at the southernmost, with easternmost expansion toward the border with Kyrgyzstan if we can afford it." (+7)

[Note to make it clear: my territory in Germany is being ceded to Yugoslavia. Get bogged down, fuckers. Haha I mean aren't I just the nicest guy?]

MaypewsSince that rule doesn't let me invade Africa yet, can I use its intended spills for the rest of France? I'm not sure about the legality of doing changes after the post but throwing out all of those spills feels a bit stupid.

As you can tell, I did too. To be honest, we should both probably receive a small punishment since we broke the rule. That was just copy and pasted from the original map without much thought, and I also didn't make the OP image, so I guess it just slipped my mind. So in my case I guess I'll allow for Parz to pick the 2 bonuses I disabled thus heavily lessening the effect of my surprise attack (which I think is what he did in his post by his keeping Belarus/Ukraine) and in your case I'll give you only half of the spills into France (30 becomes 15), we'll say the initial invasion got capsized by a storm or something.

2nd Mongol Empire (+16) - Turn 12 - NAP: Egypt, Outer Heaven POV
As for my turn yeah, not going to bother defending the Baltics now. Put all my roll towards defense of non Baltic territories/general advancement into Hyperborean* Russia and any spills go towards small incursions into Ukraine and Belarus. The Baron has also sent a telegram to Yugoslavians, requesting their renewed attention to the Russian front in light of the incursion of the God of this world. He believes that this is a much more pressing matter than the Egyptians, who pose no immediate threat to Yugoslavian interests.

R:"What I'm a sire now? Well that's a bit too fancy for me, Lawrence, no need for all that. Just tell me what the hell are we s'pposed to do now?"
L:"Wel, though nat y-crowned, thou art yit technically ruler—Ich mene, Pharaoh, of Egipte. If aught, Ich sholde clepen thee "Thy Majesté" from hennesforth. As for whider to wende from hider, Ich rede we overtake al of Spayne thanne Portyngale, and with any lefte myght we preessen into Fraunce."
R:"Thy majesty my ass, have a drink Lawrence, you're beginnin' to sound like one of them History Channel characters."

Lawrence takes a sip of his moonshine, which he too has begun getting a liking to.

(Taking over Spain, then Portugal. Any spills go to France, first unconquered territories then the conquered ones, as I believe I should be able to since I announced breaking NAP last turn. Bonus: +10)

Those secret messages
That spill into the air
From far away, so far away
A flowing river of illusion
Running with confusion
Never gone, it goes on and on.

Outer Heaven | Turn #13 | Bonus +15 | NAP: 2nd Mongol Empire, East Memphis | Ally: Yugoslavia

Since the initial purpose of the pact we signed with the Mongols has come to pass, I think it's time to let it expire.

(Guess I'm just rolling for fun, huh? Break NAP with 2nd Mongol Empire.)

Present day, present time. Turn 14. I would like to clarify the 3 country rule real quick, I've decided that if you're over the limit it means that you can't advance into new countries. Meaning ideally you want to be only in 2 at a time, as if you're at the 3 limit invading somewhere else would put you at 4. Currently Yugoslavia is at 4 countries (France, Poland, Germany, Turkey), meaning they need to finish 2 in order to be safe. I am at 3 (Ukraine, Belarus, Russia), meaning that I can't enter new territories outside of the ones that I have a pre-existing foothold in.

S.F.R. of Yugoslavia - Turn 14 (+26)

Well, we bit off more than we could chew. Ocuppy all of Poland and France, before moving any spills to Kaliningrad and Lithuania.

2nd Mongol Empire (+16) - Turn 12 - NAP: East Memphis

The Second Mongol Empire has come to terms with the Hyperborean Empire, signing a white peace which will take effect next turn. This agreement will set the borders back to what they were pre-war, with the Mongols ceding all of their territorial gains. The Mongols and Hyperboreans will also enter into a non-aggression pact, hopefully symbolising a new era of friendship between the two nations.

The agreement contained in this document will be finalised pending a signature from Parzival. I will also roll for fun, since I now cannot do anything this turn. Use this towards defense if attacked.
