Fuck modern social media, we're going back to forums.
Spent the past couple days working on a big ass list of various interesting forums (including this one), currently features 76 websites in no particular order (maybe in a future update I would add sorting options) I thought it may interest some of the people here.

Appreciate it! I've put a lot of effort into trying to make this place look authentically 2000s. My personal site also goes for a 2000s look but it has a bit of that Neocities flair mixed in I would say. This one though I try to keep as true as possible to how stuff looked back then and I've often referred to other, older forums for inspiration in some areas.

Good taste, the deathgrind Faith No More is pretty cool (though I'm really not a fan of grind except early Carcass' Symphonies of Sickness and Pig Destroyer's Prowler in the Yard).

Thank you! Those are two of my favorite grind albums as well; especially Prowler in the Yard. Funny story: Prowler in the Yard was my alarm. I slept in the same room as my dad (I'm his caretaker, long story). I set some alarms. I woke up before them and left the house, and the alarm went off. Now, a bit about my dad: audiophile, but an appreciator mainly of 50s rock and traditional pop, 70s country and some prog rock, Romantic classical music. Doesn't give a rip about punk, let alone grindcore. When I returned to the room, it was blaring. I was like "holy shit I forgot all about it." He was still asleep, as I think he can sleep under battle conditions. When he later got up, he asked me, honest and confused as ever:
"Do you see anything in that music? I spent all of that time listening to it and trying to make heads or tails of it to no avail."

I only heard about these guys recently after listening to Contrastic! On the topic of semi-obscure really fuckin' weird death metal, there's Cranial Incisored from Indonesia. They've only come out with two albums, "Rebuild: The Unfinished Interpretation of Irrational Behavior" in 2003 (listen here) and Lipan's Kinetic in 2009 (listen here). It's incredibly technical but quite jittery. Feels somewhat improvised, too, in the Naked City kind of way. A lot of that "math-metal" gets quite boring, I feel, unless you go the route of making it insane and weird enough like these guys, or going for less random but more inspired songwriting, like Blotted Science (perhaps my favorite "math-metal" band). I don't know which one of those two paths I like more. I guess it depends on the day.

Now that I think of it and since the world of "progressive deathgrind" really isn't that big... heard of Carbonized - For the Security (1993)? It's a bit more on the Cynic/Atheist side of prog, but still very good.

Never heard of Mentality, but Carbonized's pretty good. Their second album Disharmonization was one hell of a thing. There's some fun hard rock segments on that, some really interesting bass and some synth work too. Drums are pretty tight on it. Now that we've moved it over to Sweden, Pan.Thy.Monium is really fuckin' good. My favorite album of theirs is Khaooohs and Kon-Fus-Ion (here). Quite chunky death metal but with some really nice somewhat ambient synths, bluesy solos, and insane saxophone work. I recall Dan Swanö saying this band was for a lot of the ideas he had he didn't want to include in Edge of Sanity but wanted to experiment with.

Always preferred the earlier Dream II & Dawn of Dreams from Pan.thy.monium, felt much rawer. Yet, Khaooohs is the only one I have on CD.

Talking about the master, you should really (all of you) try Nightingale. I know it's corny as fuck, but:
1. The first album is a masterpiece that sounds like a cross between Katatonia and The Sisters of Mercy with a tasty dose of synth and drum machine.
2. Even past that, Swano's consistency and talent simply makes it work. And his voice only rivaled by that of Peter Steele... thank God I'm not a woman.
3. A concept album where the vocals are clear enough to follow the story!
