Since we've got a bunch of other Currently [thing] threads, figured I'd start one for games. I've mainly just been grinding out Mario Kart Wii time trials on the CTGP mod lately, mostly doing DK Summit to try to beat the new staff ghost and trying to get the double shortcut down but also some Peach Gardens attempts. It's fun if a bit frustrating. How about you all?

I suppose playing Mario Kart brings back a lot of memories for you? I wish you the best of luck with your goal.

Personally, as I mentioned earlier in the chat, I’ve started my first playthrough of Chaos;Head. At first, the whole story was rather strange, but the further I go, the more interesting it gets.
Spoiler
Especially when it came to the Dirac Sea and quantum physics,my interest in this visual novel skyrocketed.
In the near future, I also plan to play through Chaos;Child, Outer Wilds and Thief: The Dark Project for the first time. I’d also like to unlock all the achievements in Terraria.

Well it's not just memories or anything, I play it because I think it's fun. MKWii has sort of became like the Melee of Mario Kart where it has a lot of highly advanced technique and stuff that keeps more advanced players playing, still has an active online community and stuff too. So it's pretty easy to play it a lot for me, I just really love how much control it gives you over your movement and I don't think there are many video games in general that offer that.

Woah I see you're getting into the meat of C;H, hope you continue to enjoy it. It's a great time IMO, I just got the common ending in my re-read myself and it was just as great as I remember it being. I'm not as big on C;C as a lot of the Western fandom is but I still like it because it's more of a good thing (AKA the Chaos; formula), also Hinae rules. :Ciao:

Been playing the new Tokyo Xtreme Racer, it's pretty fun. Basically like an older series of games that was recently revived by the dev, more of an offline-focused street racing game. You can buy an AE86 too for the peak Initial D aesthetic. I have been having a bit of trouble with the first boss though, suddenly had a difficulty spike that started kicking my ass. My first attempt I gave it a good challenge but lost but now on my subsequent ones it's like it simply goes faster than me and there's nothing I can do, hopefully I'll figure it out I guess lol.

Playing Tales of Berseria (second time) and trying to get all achievements. The postgame is incredibly grindy because of how slowly you level, the ridiculous level curve in the EX Dungeon, and the scarcity of upgrading materials, e.g. Odorless Fluid.

Really fun story and characters though. The flow of conversations in skits and lore expansion of the setting that Zestiria originally established makes it a much better game, to say nothing of the more varied dungeon layouts, improved party AI, better battle camera, less empty overworld environments, and more interesting antagonists.

Interesting breakdown. I've been thinking about getting into the Tales series for some time, what entry would you suggest starting out with? Is Berseria a good starting point, have any opinions on the other games?

Tales is basically like Final Fantasy where you can technically start anywhere, and even the few games that do take place in the same worlds (Zestiria/Berseria and Phantasia/Symphonia) aren't all that connected. Obviously if it's one of the few direct sequels you should start with the first one.

I'd personally recommend Berseria as a good starting point for mechanics and story reasons, as well as being one of the handful easily available on PC on Steam

I recently finished chrono trigger and I'm eager for new RPGs to check out in the same style. I'm deciding between dragon quest, final fantasy and seiken denetsu. Any retro gamers here with any suggestions?
