Danganronpa Series

Recently I had a quick chat with May about having a DR thread here, so I figured why not start one myself since I just finished DR2. I've been loving the series so far, the mysteries are so captivating and the plot twists always catch me by surprise, you can never truly expect what's coming next. So I was curious, what are your opinions on the series?

• What's your favourite game/entry?

As of now it's the 2nd one, but I haven't read the 3rd yet. Maybe I will after I finish Higurashi and the remainder of Noah's endings. I will say that I think the 2nd starts a bit slow, chapters 1 and 2 are rather weak compared to the first game. The first entry really comes out swinging with that first chapter!

• What's your favourite moment/chapter?

I'd say it's either chapter 4 of game 2 or chapter 1 of game 1. I really liked Sayaka and at one point was even writing a fanfiction of like an alternate version of chapter 1, though I haven't worked on it in a while.

• What's the most important aspect of the series to you?

I think really just the the over the top nature of it all is what makes it special. There's also a lot of thought put into making the characters more than just archetypes, and I think that's why you see people connect so deeply with them. Chiaki from Danganronpa was the first anime gril I was truly crazy over and she's still pretty high up there for me, but there are really multiple great characters in every entry it seems like. Also the art is fantastic.

Danganronpa was kind of what made me start exploring the VN medium more, it was the first one that I truly thought was amazing. I still respect it a lot and it ranks quite highly for me, very special series for me.

DR2 clear 1 even though I prefer 1's atmosphere. Chapter 1 really does come out swinging.

Masafumi Takada is a musical god amongst men and his work perfectly the over the top games he scores. Honestly, I've been thinking of making a "Takeshi Abo Playlist to Uncover the Committee's Plans To" type video for YouTube, might make something similar for his work on DR and the Kill The Past series.
