Alright so I think this could be fun and some of you guys are gonna love it. If you don't know what MUGEN is (I figure most of you have at least seen it or heard of it), it's a fighting game engine that's been around for years has a shit ton of characters and assets made for it. One of the most fun things to do in MUGEN is watch CPU controlled characters fight each other, and I've done this with the Gikopoi crew a few times so I figured why not here. I tried to do sort of a SaltyBet thing where people'd gamble on matches using the coins that the chatbot over there uses, maybe you guys'd like a different format, like polling on the forum or claiming a set of characters you think will win.

I have a good handful of characters and stages already but if there's any in particular you want to see I can go look for them, though keep in mind I'm limited to what actually exists. Doesn't matter to me if it's actually high quality or some strange meme character, anything goes. I'll stream it on Gikopoi, maybe after anime night or something.

Post anime-night is quite late for me. Would there be another suitable time earlier in the day? Also when I read the title i thought WE would fight in the MUGEN championship! That could be fun as well at some point, but betting on digital dog fights can also be quite fun. Looking forward to it!

Amazing idea, I always loved watching MUGEN fights on old YouTube. Foundational internet memory of mine. I agree with the concerns regarding the time, although I could probably stick around I am typically a bit exhausted and tired of watching things after the OOs since we go for hours at a time.

As far as characters go, seconding Joe Yabuki. Arcueid Brunestud, Ippo Makunouchi, Piccolo, Kenshin Himura and Spike Spiegel would also be cool to see I think. How many fighters will there be anyway? Will there be like, a bracket? I think maybe it'd be fun to host it like that and we could vote on who wins the championship or perhaps on how deep fighters will go into the tourney.

I haven't yet messed around with it as much as I should, but one of my friends used to do these MUGEN fights on YouTube back in the day through viewer requests and he sent me his heavily modded copy of the game with a ton of characters on it. Maybe I could forward that to you in private or something, not sure how much you have. Entering into a random match produces awe-inspiring results such as the one below.

Yeah, I've been a bit busy so I haven't prepared or anything. I don't know what time you guys actually wanna do this but doing it on around the same time we watch anime the day before might be good, if there's no objections then I'll roll with that.

The best thing you guys can do is give me a list of characters you want, there's been a couple suggested already but I'd like to have a good chunk that aren't just the ones I already have. I could also slap on a cool screenpack or something.

Sure, here's a Mega link. There are probably lost characters in this from dead websites given the massive span of time that it ranges across so I figured it'd be a good thing to publicise instead of doing privately. There are over 15k files so you may have to take some steps in order to DL it all without your browser freezing, for me using the mega desktop app worked for uploading. The time given sounds fine for me, maybe if game night ever happens we could combine the two somehow heh.

I prefer doing both Mugen and the gaming night in Friday. But if we roll with doing them in the same day, I have no problems.

I check the Joe one, and it isn't very good, so I'm sticking with Jotaro instead.
